Following the official arrival of spring in March, it seems like we're rapidly approaching summer. Yesterday, Shanghai saw its hottest day of the year, with temperatures reaching a high of 28 degrees Celsius. But don’t rush to put away your warm clothes just yet. It’s been reported by Eastday that temperatures will take a downward turn over the coming days.
Overall, the weather has been a bit inconsistent lately. During the Tomb Sweeping Festival, the rainy weather deterred many citizens and tourists from taking a spring outing. In total, the parks across the city only welcomed 2.72 million visitors during the three-day holiday. This was a decrease of over 34 percent compared to last year, according to the statistics of the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.

Following the holiday, temperatures started to bounce back. On Monday, the temperature rose to 26.1 degrees Celsius before gradually increasing.
That being said, it seems the warm weather will go on a hiatus, as the Weather Channel predicts from Wednesday the temperatures will begin to drop. At the same time, we are very likely to have a rain showers on Friday and the temperatures won’t rise again until next Tuesday.

It’s quite normal for Shanghai to have inconsistent weather in April, so this year is no exception.
As a side note, this week will also witness the close of the cherry blossom season for 2018. So, if you haven’t taken the opportunity to see nature at its best, make this weekend the one to do it; and take a jacket, just in case it’s cool outside!
