Nanxiang, that overrated iconic dumpling and steamed bun restaurant in Yu Garden everyone takes tourists to, is temporarily closed until the fall as it undergoes extensive renovations.
The Bib Gourmand-certified, Trip Advisor favorite will be closed until September as it receives its biggest facelift in 118 years, Shine reports.

In the meantime, a temporary shop has been set up for die-hard Nanxiang fans on 5 Bailing Lu. But be warned: the space is tiny and the lines are expected to be long. You know, just like OG Nanxiang.

First established in 1900 during the Qing Dynasty, Nanxiang has hosted esteemed visitors from all over the world throughout its storied past, including Charlie Chaplin, Bertrand Russell and your parents.
Luckily, there is no shortage of xiaolongbao spots in Shanghai to hold you over until September.
