Mar 15: Doug Stanhope

For their 3rd anniversary, Shanghai Comedy Club brings over Doug Stanhope, a Massachusetts-born comedian dealing in caustic humor and social commentary that’s both cynical and insightful.  He’s been compared to comic greats like Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce, and this show will be his Shanghai debut. Mar 15: City of Devils: A Shanghai Noir World Premiere

Kicking off Litfest 2018 is the world premiere of City of Devils: A Shanghai Noir, the latest book by Paul French, author of New York Times bestseller Midnight in Peking. French will read an excerpt from the book, which sees him delve into the colorful history of the Gangs of Old Shanghai.

Mar 16: Beach Fossils

201803/Beach-Fossils1.jpgKnown for their lo-fi, atmospheric dream pop and shoegaze, Brooklyn indie band Beach Fossils return to the mainland for a China tour. They've been active since 2009 and are passing through Shanghai as part of the tour for their 2017 release, Somersault. Catch their show at MAO Livehouse from Ye Records.

Mar 16: SHFT 5th Anniversary with Keys n Krates

Shanghai-based party promoters SHFT have seen massive growth over the last 5 years, organizing 88rising’s first China tour and throwing major trap and hip-hop parties all around the country. Their anniversary party brings a set from acclaimed Canadian trio Keys N Krates, a live hip-hop act.

Mar 16: Flora Yin-Wong

For their first show of 2018, Wooozy Offline hosts Berlin-based producer Flora Yin-Wong, who’s performed her otherworldly electronic music on Boiler Room and NTS Live and released her debut EP on New York’s PTP. Scintii, Gouachi, Le Makeup and souj provide support.

Mar 16-25: Beatles for Babies

A loving tribute to the band, this interactive show by Spanish troupe La Petita Malumaluga features four musicians and a dancer dressed entirely in white who cover classics like 'Yesterday,' 'Let It Be' and 'Hey  Jude.' Children are encouraged to dance, clap and wander the stage during the performance. Perfect for infants, toddlers and up.

Mar 17: St. Patrick's Day

Expect a slew of parties at expat venues around town for the drunkest day of the year, including Logan’s Punch, Sasha’s, Zapata’s and more.


Mar 17: Föllakzoid

Founded in Santiago in 2008, this Chilean trio deals in freewheeling, psychedelic guitar rock that takes thematic influence from the ancient music of the Andes as well as elements of krautrock. Catch their trippy and atmospheric show at Bandai Namco.

Mar 17: Swiss Ball 2018

This annual event offers up a glamorous night of music and dancing at Jing'an Shangri-la. There will be a gala menu, live entertainment, lucky draw prizes and an après-ski atmosphere in honor of this year’s theme.
