Feb 1: Bedroom Launch Party

This solid new monthly party concept by Alice of Fire of Elevator showcases the best of bedroom music production. Each month, Alice will invite DIY producers from different cities around China to DJ as if they were having a house party with friends. This kickoff event features sets by producers 3asic, Dirty K and Diamond Lil.

Feb 2: I Love 80s

UNICO Shanghai throws another of their recurring I Love 80s parties, bringing you the best dance music of the decade from Michael Jackson to Madonna. Tease your hair, grab your best fluorescent button-down and head over. Free flow gin & tonic from 9.30-10.30pm.

Feb 2: Swindle

Producer Swindle is a major name in UK grime, warming up the icy genre with elements of jazz and funk on his last few releases. Swindle's last visit to Shanghai was for a performance at The Shelter back in 2015, and he has a song called 'Shanghai' on his LP Peace, Love and Music.

Feb 2: Medusa: Ouissam

Shanghai's most rapturous pansexual dance party returns this month with an international guest in the form of Ouissam. The founder of multiple record labels and queer dance parties based out of both Hanoi and Hong Kong, he spins a dance floor-centric mix of obscure gems and classic tracks spanning disco, house and techno. Michael Cignarale and Mau Mau provide support, with visuals by VJ @killerweixin.

Feb 2: Diamond D

Longstanding Bronx-born hip-hop producer and MC Diamond D comes to Shanghai for an all 45s vinyl set at Modern Sky Lab. One of the founding members of NYC hip-hop crew D.I.T.C., he’s a skilled turntablist and has been active in the NYC hip-hop underground since the late 80s, working with everyone from The Fugees to A Tribe Called Quest.

Feb 3: Kolner Karneval

Shanghai’s only Cologne Karneval Party goes down at Zeitgeist Brewery thanks to their collaboration with the Cologne Carnivals Committee of Shanghai. The cover price gets you a buffet dinner from 7-9.30pm paired with free flow beer, wine, mixers and soft drinks from 7pm-1am and a midnight goulash soup to keep the party going. The dress code is "be who you always wanted to be."

Feb 3: Gravez

SHFT brings over Atlanta producer Gravez, an up-and-comer whose chilled-out trap and hip-hop beats, including collaborations with Goldlink plus a brand new track "Swervin'" featuring Lonny X, have been praised by Travis Scott and Jaden Smith. Catch his show at Arkham.

Feb 3: SONS

Spotlight-shy techno producer SONS, who doesn’t give interviews or release photos of himself, comes to Shanghai for the first time. Expect a standout set from this mysterious producer, plus support from Shanghai DJs Tobias Patrick and Lindberg.

Feb 3: Illenium

Denver-based electronic music producer Illenium comes to Shanghai for a  show at Modern Sky Lab. Known for his haunting and emotive bass music  and remixes, Illenium's live show features a keyboard, drum pad and  cutting-edge lighting and visuals to create an immersive experience.

Feb: 3 Polyswitch

Two longstanding Shanghai promoters, Antidote and Discosmic Adventure, team up to bring Polyswitch, an up-and-coming talent from Casablanca, on his first China tour. Expect a fresh and danceable mix of cosmic funk, micro-house and jazzy techno. Catch his Shanghai debut at Dada with Nik Hilp of Discosmic Adventure playing in support.
