On January 26, 1788 the First Fleet of British ships arrived in Australia, and the Union Jack was raised at Sydney Cove. To mark this occasion, every January 26 Australians get drunk. Here's where you can do that in Shanghai.

Long Lunch with Greg Ritchie

Affectionately known as 'Fat Cat' due to his burly build, Greg Ritchie played 30 Tests and 44 ODIs for Australia from 1982 to 1987, as well as scoring 10,170 runs in his first class cricket career for Queensland.

Embarking on a successful media career on retirement, Ritchie is well versed in the art of after dinner speaking. Expect tales his playing days in the 80s golden era, from both on and off the pitch, in his colorful style.

Tickets are RMB395, which includes a three course roast lunch and 4.5 hours of free flow Australian wines and beer.

Little Creatures Opening Party

The opening party of the Australian craft beer 'Brewers Lab' Little Creatures down in Found 158. There will be complimentary Aussie snacks from 6-8pm, live music and circus performances, special prices on Little Creatures draught and bottles and free Little Creatures swag for those that are early.

Oh and an Aussie Legend will be in attendance. Could it be Fat Cat?

Australia Day BBQ 2018

The AustCham Social 2018 Aussie BBQ takes place at Kakadu. One of the best family-friendly days in town sees all things Aussie with a mouth-watering buffet BBQ, free-flow beer and wine, live music, fun kids activities and the highly-anticipated pavlova bake-off.

Price is RMB400 for members RMB480 for non-members, RMB200 member child and RMB280 non. There is also a family package RMB1,100 for two adults and two kids. Children under six eat for free.
