Dec 7: Nightwave
An essential member of Glasgow’s music scene, Nightwave’s
visionary hybrid of grime, R&B and house is a refreshing addition to
underground dance music’s generally male-dominated atmosphere. Her
latest EP, Wavejumper, dropped earlier this year on Fool’s Gold Records,
and she’s performed with everyone from Derrick May to Azealia Banks.

Dec 8: Wonky Kong 2017 Round-Up Rave
Longstanding DJ crew Wong Kong round out 2017 with showcase of all sorts of bass music, from UK funky to garage to grime, plus a drum ’n bass set by Wonky Kong founder Siesta. Line-up features Turner, Andy S and MC Jado.

Dec 8: Stephanie Sykes
Vibes brings over UK dark techno producer Stephanie Sykes for her debut
Shanghai show. Known for her raw and gritty sets, she’s a regular

Dec 9: That's Shanghai Christmas Party
Break out the ugly sweaters and get your Santa suits at the ready - That’s Shanghai is getting all Christmassy as we take over Cages for a festive bash. Presale tickets are just RMB80 and include a couple of Yuletide drinks. Prizes will also be awarded for the best dressed, and a DJ will be spinning Christmas classics into the wee hours. If that isn't enough for you, there will also be a Christmas Market at Cages at the very same time, and Santa himself will be onhand for selfies.

Dec 9: A Lit Christmas
To add some hype to your holiday season, head to A Lit Christmas, SHFT’s special rooftop holiday bash. The Cut’s rooftop space will be decked out for the occasion, and the line-up includes local DJs Popasuda and Lacychu.

Dec 9: Machinedrum
this exciting booking from STD, North Carolina-based electronic
musician Machinedrum brings his acclaimed take on IDM and alternative
hip-hop to Shanghai for a set at Arkham. Known for collaborations with
Theophilus London and Jimmy Edgar, Machinedrum has an extensive musical
output that’s uniquely cerebral, catchy and danceable.

Dec 9: Feloneezy and Stevie Whisper
Belgrade-based Feloneezy is a purveyor of juke and footwork, who occupies a unique space in the city’s music scene thanks to his versatile sets. Joining him at Dada is DJ and visual artist Stevie Whisper, who takes a punk approach to his eclectic sets. Expect a night of forward-thinking club music that spans from dark wave to footwork.

Dec 9: 12” of Fun: Kornel Kovacs
vinyl-loving party 12 Inches of Fun hosts Swedish-Hungarian DJ Kornel
Kovacs, who deals in a versatile range of festive and danceable
electronic music. He dropped his debut album, The Bells, this past
August. Support provided by 12 Inches of Fun’s crate-digging duo
Lindberg and Tobias Patrick.

Dec 9: DJ Mitsu
Shanghai hosts this performance by celebrated Japanese DJ Mitsu. A
notable hip-hop battle DJ, Mitsu has toured Japan for years and recently
released his debut album, which features collaborations with American
rappers Phonte & Big Pooh from Little Brother, neo-soul artists
Dwele and Lady Alma and more.

Dec 9: Break the Rules Warehouse Party
Newly opened F&B complex City Oasis Pavilion in Jing’an hosts this party for all those who peaked back in university. Head there for flip cup, beer pong, jenga and even an Xbox onhand to play. Entry price includes a free drink, and beer, wine and cocktails are going for RMB35 each.

Dec 10: Pushfest 2017
Asia’s first skateboard film festival returns to screen a compelling collection of documentaries about skate culture. This year, Hungarian filmmaker Patrik Wallner (pictured) will present his 10-year retrospective on Visualtraveling, a photo project that took him to over 100 countries. There will also be skate workshops from local company Iconx, food from Joe’s Pizza and FlybyJing, booze from Absolut and Kaiba and lots more.

Dec 10: Paul Smith Pink Party
Queer party Snap! hosts this art & fashion party in collaboration with Modern Art Museum’s ongoing exhibition on fashion designer Paul Smith. Follow the all-pink dress code and to the Bund to witness the lighting of a pink Christmas tree, plus drag performances and more excuses for Sunday day drinking. After-party at newly opened Club 3 1/3 to follow.
