That's Shanghai takes a look at the best concerts of the week:
Dec 6: Festivus
Festivus brings together an eclectic line-up of international artists, making for a worthwhile midweek show. Headliners include Taragana Pyjarama, a Copenhagen purveyor of melodic electronic beats, plus rapper Deniro Farrar and R&B vocalist ImJaeHall, both from the US. Shanghai-based hip-hop duo Skinny OG & Queen Diamond serve as openers.

Dec 7: Johnjamsession 10 Year Anniversary
After a two-year hiatus, John Shanghai revives his longstanding local
live music night, Johnjamsession, just in time for its 10 year
anniversary. Expect an energetic, interactive and nostalgic evening with
performances from a slew of locally-based musicians, plus John
Shanghai’s first-ever performance with a live band of his original song
'American Dream.'

Dec 7: AFSC New Blood Tour
Catch hip-hop label AFSC's showcase of up-and-coming rappers from around the Chinese mainland at Modern Sky Lab. The line-up includes Shanghai-based Pharaoh, Changsha’s Toy-wong, Shenzhen’s Lil Jet, Xinjiang trap group Ha$ and Shanghai rapper Wangyu-Pavel.

Dec 8-9: Shangheart Fest
This
two-day charity music festival supports Heart to Heart, a
Shanghai-based charity that provides corrective surgery for children
with congenital heart defects. Twelve Shanghai bands ranging from punk
to metal to hip-hop will headline throughout the weekend, including Must
Be Red, Alpaca, Pinball City, Skinny OG & Queen Diamond, and
Limousine. The show is free, but donations are accepted at the door, and
raffle prizes throughout the weekend will raise further funds for the
cause.

Dec 10: Bombino
Acclaimed Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter Bombino makes his China debut with a 5-city tour from Split Works. Known for his virtuoso mix of blues guitar, traditional Tuareg music and reggae, Bombino has had his albums produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and David Longstreth of the Dirty Projectors.
