So you've gone out and got that perfect outfit from one of Shanghai's costume shops, all you need now is a ghoulish party to flaunt it at. Fear not, we've compiled a list of the best Halloween parties in the city for you.

Monster mash the night away with That's Shanghai on October 28 at Cages. You'll float too with a night full of spectacular spooky shows, heart-thumping music and four devilishly delicious drinks from Bacardi, all for the bargin price of RMB100. Dress up in your most creative costume and you might just win one of our best-dressed prizes!

Urban Family's Halloween Party

Treat the little ones to some fun this Halloween with our very own Urban Family Halloween Party. All sorts of events will be on offer to keep the kids entertained with games that range from pumpkin tossing and pin the spider to playing with 3-D printing pens and VR games. There's also costume contests, so be sure to dust off your best outfit. Other performances are scheduled for the two-day party, including live music and a parade.

Halloween at Shanghai Disney Resort
This year, the wicked fun of the Halloween season celebration is going to take place throughout the entire Shanghai Disney Resort from September 25 to October 31. For the first time ever at Shanghai Disney Resort, guests of all ages will also be welcome to wear costumes during their visit as part of a new special Halloween dress-up tradition.

Boxing Cat Brewery's Happy Halloween Happy Hour
Promising to keep you tipsy throughout the week leading up to the eponymous day in question, Boxing Cat Brewery is teaming up with over 20 venues across China to see in All Hallow's Eve. Details of times and venues are to be announced via their WeChat (ID: Boxing-Cat-Brewery) so make sure to keep a close eye on it.

Big Bamboo's Halloween Week
With the happy hour special of buy-one-get-one free on Boxing Cat draft beer during the week, a special price on Bloody Marys from October 28-31 and a Halloween party that boasts face painting and surprises on October 28, Big Bamboo has all bases covered in the run up to Halloween.

A Tale of Mystery
The Blackstone is transforming itself into The Coven this Halloween weekend, with their resident magicians performing a special live Halloween tale to chill you to the bone. Dress code is witch or wizard but probably more Wicked Witch of the West than Harry Potter.

Co:Motion Halloween: Extra Terrestrial
For an interstellar night of Halloween debauchery, Shanghai house and techno crew Co:Motion hosts this party featuring several DJs from their roster, including rising star techno producer MIIIA, Medusa’s queen diva Michael Cignarale, Diamond Lil and Finascia.

Vampires!
Lucca invites you to dance the night away on the first of its events over the Halloween weekend. The RMB80 cover charge gets you a drink upon entry should you need that Dutch courage to throw some shapes.

Travel to the Future! Halloween at The Nest
Opting to put a spin on Halloween, the Nest will be holding a themed party on Friday centered around the future. Expect cocktails, snacks and surprises as a free make up artist is on hand to help you out with the theme.

Metal Karaoke Contest: Black Sabbath Edition
Clear out your pipes and practice those scales for Inferno's Black Sabbath Karaoke Contest. Do your best Ozzy or Dio impression - or if you're feeling particularly adventurous why not plump with a Glenn Hughes number - to try and make it through the contest. Not much of a singer? Pop along to enjoy the entertainment.

Day of the Dead
Not quite Halloween but it's to do with those that are no longer of this world, so hence its inclusion. In celebration of this Mexican tradition there's face painting and a DJ in addition to cash prizes for the best dressed attendees in the Mexican theme.

The Haunted Gold Mine at Bar Rouge
For two days, Bar Rouge is turning its premises into a haunted gold mine. There they beckon you to brave the darkness for a night of fun in typical Bar Rouge fashion. Dress code is the very niche: "geared up modern miners."

Tricks or Treats
The Pearl is hosting a spellbinding cabaret and circus show produced by Fire Souls that will shock and amaze you. Encouraging you to attend dressed up too, feel a part of the delivish entertainment.

No Tricks, All Treats Halloween Horror Night
For four short days, the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao is holding a special free flow house beer deal for a flat rate depending on the time you arrive. The limited offer will run at the Vine Sports Bar and Pulse Garden venues with a complimentary light buffet included. Seats are limited however so make sure to make a reservation if you're tempted.

Game of Thrones BCB Sinan Mansions Halloween Party
On October 28 from 8pm onward, Boxing Cat Sinan Mansions is having a party. RMB150 for free flow beers, house pours and wine. Free food ticket if you come in a Game of Thrones outfit. Come a little early and get your makeup done by a professional makeup artist. Halloween snacks and Mj’s Smashed Pumpkin Ale provided.

Freak Out Rave
Hip-hop and Trap promoters SHFT return with the third installment of their Freak Out Rave on Halloween weekend, one of the biggest parties of the year. This year's theme is "cyborg horror" - take from that what you will. Caked Up, Y2K, Josh Pan and more are set to perform at this 4,000-capacity warehouse party with two stages and a massive soundsystem.

S.T.D. Halloween
Promoters S.T.D. go all out for their Halloween show, which coincides with their 10th anniversary. Headlining the event is Swedish golden boy rapper Yung Lean, Rap of China contestant Benzo, and more secret acts TBA. They'll also be transforming Arkham into a futuristic outer space nightclub for the occasion.

El Dia De Los Muertos
With the traditional celebration usually hosted across the Halloween period, Unico is throwing its fourth annual Day of the Dead night on October 28. Expect skeletons and blossoming flower skulls aplenty, where the password "Coco" can get you in for free from 11pm-midnight. Come later or without the password and it's a RMB100 cover charge.

The Haunted Drag House
Down at Candor they promise a cavilcade of queens as part of their Haunted Drag House Halloween night. In attendence will be all the big names inlcuding Miss Uni Verse, Fantasia and Mo Meaux. Come in your scariest costume and get a discount on tickets at the door.

It's Gonna be a Thriller
Down at Shake their resident band, The Shanghai Sheikhs will be on hand to supply all the classic Halloween tunes. Also, adhere to the somewhat vague theme of "sexy soul" and get free Chivas or Beefeater cocktails if in costume.

Zapata's Halloween Party 2017
Join in on one of the biggest Halloween parties in Shanghai. The entry ticket is RMB100 and it includes two drinks. Girls in costume get in free before midnight. There will also be a costume competition with RMB6,000 in prizes to be won.

Ghost Adventures Halloween Special
Inferno is celebrating Halloween in all its sinful glory. Kicking off the night with documentaries on paranormal activity, things are bound to only get spookier. Get a free shot on the house if you dress up as an obvious and notable deceased rock star. Oh, and Oujia boards are also on hand to really get the night going.

Up at Kartel, they're offering a free flow of wine for just RMB200. To aid in your horror themed merriment, they have DJ Chunx behind the decks to blast out some hip hop, funk and 90s classics. Expect S Club 7 whilst enjoying that free flow.

Eighth Official Halloween Pub Crawl
Shanghai’s Official Halloween Pub Crawl is back for its eighth year running. With not just one, but four huge Halloween parties scheduled along the crawl, their haunted party bus will ferry you between venues. Cafe des Stagiaires commands you to dress up and head down to the café where candies, zombies, bloody cocktails and scary DJs are all ready to have a blast! Fancy dress will ensure you get a free shot and if you win the costume contest you'll get one week free flow! More suprises are also promised.

In commemoration of the late Hugh Hefner, Liquid Laundry is making their Halloween party Playboy themed. Bunny ears and silk robes are a must as things kick off from 8pm.

Haunted on the Huangpu
Now this one's something special. Put simply: a rave on the river. Climb aboard a three-storey yacht, complete with roof deck to dance the night away with the DJs charged with keeping the party afloat. Ticket includes one free drink.

Halloween Tribute 2017
Back at Yuyintang is their popular tribute concert that they attest has the best line-up yet. With the likes of Pantera, The Hives, The Pixies and Nirvana "in attendance," what better way to rock out on Halloween with some classic songs from grunge to metal. There's no mention of a specific dress code but we're sure Yuyintang wouldn't mind if you 'Come As You Are.'

Free Halloween Kids Party
Taking place at the L'Avenue Mall is a whole weekend worth of fun activities for children. Here, kids can learn how to make their own Halloween-themed night lamp and a pumpkin-shaped candy bag amongst other things. Entry is free but only with an RSVP as there is limited availability.

Halloween Haunted House Party
The Kerry Hotel is hosting their annual Halloween party this year as a haunted house. All sorts of creepy characters are promised to become your new friends when visiting this craft beer brewery. A special Halloween buffet is also available from at The Cook from the 28-29.

Colca Halloween Dinner
Fancy something a bit more refined over the Halloween weekend than the endless parties on offer? Why not indluge yourself with a holiday-influenced special tapas menu. Dining deals are on offer for two that includes five spooky tapas menus and two drinks.

Similarly, Azul has a special Halloween-themed tapas menu, however they have a jug of red sangria to offer with their set menu for two.

Spooky Spins at Spinback
Need a bit of execise after indulging a bit too much over the Halloween weekend? Why not hop on a bike at Spinback and burn off those extra calories with an indoor cycling session. At least you'll be out of the house when the trick or treaters come.

A Sinfully Stylish Halloween
On the terrace at Camelia, Juniper Garden sample an extensive menu that leads to salivation just perusing it. There's also the prospect of free-flow draft beer and whiskey-based cocktails for a fee.

Halloween 2
Whilst their big Halloween party is on the October 28, Zapata's is gearing up for a sequel on Halloween's actual date. They've got a DJ until late, a prize for the best costume not to mention free flow Margaritas for the ladies from 9-11pm. The day also coincides with their Taco Buffet, of which payment of RMB138 will also get you free flow Carlsberg and frozen Margaritas from 6.30-10pm.
