We'll hit you with the good news first: The Bull & Claw, that surf 'n' turf eatery everyone liked to get semi-respectable wasted brunch at, is coming back. They had to close abruptly on Christmas Day following a landlord-related kerfuffle.
Bad news: they're moving into El Patio's luxe Concession-era villa on Fengyang Lu, which means adios to the long-standing Spanish restaurant. Former chef Pol Garcia has done a switcheroo to the kitchens of La Maison, so head over there if you're craving a taste of his cooking.
One of the the finer pieces of F&B real estate in Shanghai, the villa boasts two floors, plus an attic-style loft that once housed El Patio's Champagne bar. There's also a lush lil' garden out front for summer months. The venue is expected to be double the size compared to Bull & Claw's former Xikang Lu digs, plus seating for up to 100 on the various balconies and patios.
Opening is pegged for late May.
