Aerial Photos Capture Shanghai's Bike Share Graveyard

Photographer Shen Chunchen has captured stunning images of where Shanghai's Mobikes and Ofos go to die.

The photos, taken with a drone, show Huangpu District's overflowing bike share graveyard, which officials set up to store bikes seized for being illegally parked.

As more and more companies cash in on Shanghai’s bike share craze, local governments are finding it difficult to control illegal parking.

While apps like Mobike’s instruct users to park bikes in clearly marked white bicycle spaces, many riders ignore the rule, leaving bikes to obstruct sidewalks and roads.

The graveyard is roughly the size of a basketball court and contains over 3500 orange Mobikes and roughly 500 of other brands, including yellow Ofo, blue Xiaoming and green electric Xiangqi.
