Feb 22: Zedd
MYST
welcomes the Russian-born German producer known mixing electro house
with disparate sounds from progressive house to classical music. He’s
produced for Lady Gaga and was one of the big names in the inaugural
STORM Festival.

Feb 23: RunnersHai
The
Shanghai running group kicks off their monthly running series that
takes place on the last Thursday of every month until May. The 6.5K runs
will take place at Century Park, free from traffic and scooters –
although you may have to dodge the occasional backward walking
70-year-old. While you can always compete with the other runners, you
can also race against yourself as RunnersHai will be tracking times
after each race and distributing the results to see how you rank in
comparison to your previous runs.

Feb 23: Fritz Helder
As
one-half of Azari & III, Fritz Helder helped push the boundaries of
house. Now as a solo act, he’s introducing a new side of himself with a
mini China tour that stops off at Le Baron.

Feb 23: Paula Temple
Signed
to the legendary label R&S, Paula Temple has carved out a
reputation for her hybrid live/DJ sets that recently thrilled at
London’s Converegence Festival and Movement Detroit. Known for her
cutting edge remixes of The Prodigy, Peaches and The Knife, Temple will
headline promoters Say Yes’ Asia Reloaded 2017 tour.

Feb 23-25: Rio Carnival
It
might be winter, but UNÏCO Shanghai is heating up the Bund with this
three-day festival full of colors, music and dance. Things kick off on
Thursday with the launch of UNÏCO’s new weekly event, Lady Ipanema,
which celebrates Brazilian sounds from bossa nova to baile funk. Opening
night features a parade of Brazilian samba dancers, live percussion
performances and free flow tropical punch for the ladies. Friday’s
Chic’n’Pop party will have a Carnival Grooves theme and Saturday’s
Electropical night promises to be a rowdy farewell to the carnival.

Feb 24: Resident Evil - The Final Chapter
Milla Jovovich returns as Alice in the sixth and final installment of the sci-fi action horror series. Based on the hit video game series, Resident Evil concludes with one last massive battle between Alice and her friends/apocalypse survivors against the mighty forces of the Umbrella forces.
Feb 24: Assassin's Creed
Speaking of video games, Oscar winner Michael Fassbender and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard star in this adaptation of the hit action-adventurer. Despite negative reviews, it’s been a big hit grossing over USD212 million already.
Feb 24: Shanghai and Seoul Night
Leading
South Korean indie pop trio Manju Pocket have taken over the Hongdae
scene with their ppongjjak (an old style of Korean pop that developed in
the early 1990s) inspired sound. They’ll be charming Yuyintang with
help from Shanghai stalwarts Split Pants, Limousine and Dahlia Rosea.

Feb 24: The Japan Beatles
Get
ready for a Japanese take on the British invasion as the fabulous Japan
Beatles band perform classics from the Fab Four, bringing the swinging
60s to The Pearl.

Feb 24: Jozef K
The
DADA favorite and Manchester house stalwart has enjoyed a stellar year
that includes appearing on Pete Tong’s essential mix series. He returns
to Shanghai with support from Will A and the Minimalist crew.

Feb 24-26: Paper Planet
This
popular immersive live art installation from Polygot mixes paper
techniques with costuming and character based play. Guests enter a world
where there are no tools and no rules, with children and their parents
encouraged to play within the paper forest and create their own
costumes, creatures and other additions to the wondrous environment.
Appropriate for ages 2 and up. All attendees need a ticket.

Feb 24-26: Prelude to a Kiss
East West Theatre presents their adaptation of the Pulitzer-nominated play that follows a wedding that goes awry when a mysterious old man appears and switches bodies with the bride following an innocent kiss.

Feb 25: Fasching
Starting
every year on November 11 at 11:11am, the South German carnival lasts
several months culminating in the last six days, which is dubbed the
‘Foolish Season.’ Per tradition, people dress up in fanciful costumes
and unleash their boisterous selves at wild parties. Paulaner continues
to bring the festival to Shanghai by bringing the annual costume party
to its Expo location for the first time.In addition to an
all-you-can-eat buffet full of Bavarian favorites, there will be free
flow of Paulaner beer and house wine, as well as a performance of German
'schlager' songs from the live Filipino band, Hype. Prizes will be
given to the best costumes.

Feb 25: Peace Hotel Swing Dance Ball
The
former Cathay Hotel channels its legendary past with this swing dance
party. Travel back to 1920s Shanghai for this celebration of the city’s
first jazz age. Dress code: vintage formal.

Feb 25: French Karaoke Night
The Pearl pays tribute to classic French tunes and want you to come down and sing along for an epic karaoke night on a 7 meter screen.

Feb 25: Fabrizio Mammarella
Italian
Dance Wave Asia presents the founder of acclaimed label, Slow Motion
Records. Part of the new generation of producers redesigning the
boundaries of house, Mammarella has collaborated with Rodion (who helped
shape Beijing stalwarts Nova Heart’s debut EP), is a musician in the
Clap Rules Project and has rocked clubs all over the globe. Altieri
supports.

Feb 25: Timmy Trumpet
The Australian house DJ and producer has become an Ibiza icon thanks to his rousing live shows, where he plays live trumpet solos over dance tracks he’s DJing.

Feb 26: That’s Shanghai Erotic Fiction Competition Submissions Deadline
The Shanghai International Literary Festival is returning to M on the Bund in March and so is the sixth annual That’s Shanghai Erotic Fiction Competition. It is once again time to dip your quill in the inkwell and set our loins aquiver with fervid, fleshy, filthy prose. Stories must be set in Shanghai and 1,000 words or less. Until Feb 26: Beyond Rubik’s Cube
Created
by the Liberty Science Museum, Google and the cube’s Hungarian
inventor, Ernõ Rubik, this exhibition celebrates the world’s most
popular puzzle. During its world tour, Beyond Rubik’s Cube has
delighted guests with interactive physical and digital challenges. Other
highlights include a giant Rubik’s Cube the size of a car, early
prototypes of the cube and the world’s most expensive toy, a
jewel-encrusted Rubik’s Cube.

Feb 26: The Mix & Match Trivia Quiz
Shanghai's most debonair quiz master Ned Kelly introduces a new monthly quiz held on the last Sunday of the month, where the usual teams are broken up and people matched up with a whole new set of teammates.
