Based in Shanghai from 2006 - and house photographer at That's Shanghai from 2009-2015 - Hungarian photographer and filmmaker Nicky Almasy has spent a decade capturing the diversity of this shape-shifting city, from life in the old lanes to ultra-modern skyscrapers under construction.
This Thursday he will be presenting his work with a talk at The Apartment.
His photographic portfolio covers architecture, fashion, travel, and portraiture, as well as making music videos and documentaries. In 2010, he was commissioned to shoot Shanghai Tower, Asia's tallest building (just named best new skyscraper in the world).
Now based in Bangkok, Almasy is in town for a month working on a new project shooting the houses designed by Hungarian architect Laszlo Hudec (active in Shanghai from 1918 to 1945).
All of which should make for a very interesting evening. And if that (and the below shots) are not enough to tempt you along, it will be 2-for-1 drinks all night.
November 10, 8pm, free entry. See a listing for The Apartment here.
