Metallica have added a second show at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena on August 14th at 20:00 in response to unprecedented demand from rock fans all across China.

The band’s August 13th debut Shanghai performance sold out in mere minutes, and promoter AEG Live Asia predicts this second concert will also quickly sell out. Tickets for the August 14th performance will go on sale this Monday, July 8 at 12:00pm and are available through the ticketing hotline at 400-610-3721, and online at Damai.cn. Prices are RMB 1680, 1280, 980 and 480. August 13th and 14th of this year mark Metallica’s first China performances in over 30 years as one of the world’s greatest live bands.

Since erupting onto the music scene in 1981, the band has toured the world many times over, becoming one of the most iconic names in rock and selling 110 million albums. They have won nine Grammy awards, and became the first ever band to have five consecutive albums debut at number one in the Billboard 200 chart. Their approach to hard rock, which incorporates elements of thrash and punk with a sturdy low end, has made them one of the most influential bands in history.

As a touring band of incredible pedigree, Metallica continues to be embraced by audiences across the world, astounding fans of all ages with their vitality and virtuosity. Metallica is hugely popular in China, where the band’s music is associated with the ‘opening-up’ period of the late eighties and early nineties. Although their albums and live concert films enjoy a huge following here, these historic concerts will be the first chance for many Chinese fans to fully experience the most legendary stage show in hard rock. After more than three decades of music, the long wait to see Metallica live in China is nearly at an end.
