The Camel Puxi is closing today.
But no need for panic, the bar isn't being swept up in the tide of demolitions spanning from YKL to Dongping Lu. Instead the go-to for sports and shenanigans is purely shutting shop for renovations, and from the sounds of things, it'll be swinging open its freshly painted doors with a sweet new look and new offerings.
As comes to us straight from the Camel's mouth:
The new Camel will still embrace our love of sport but we will be adding a new chef with a completely revamped menu, along with an extensive wine and cocktail list to complement an extended 24 taps beer selection. The renovation will involve the opening up of the front of the building to make a much more open, light and inviting entrance and front bar area, plus a double-sized island bar and opening up the middle and back areas to brighten them up with additional massive TVs. The new Camel will be much lighter and spacious with serious food and drink offerings.
But if you head in today, like right now, you can catch all the sports (UFC 204, NCAA football, MLB playoffs, Japanese F1, etc), while enjoying select drinks for just RMB20, all day and night.
For those in serious need of their Camel-fix during the 6-8 week renovation period, The Camel Pudong, The Blarney Stone and The Hop Project will be open extra hours so you can catch all your must-watch games.
And most importantly, our favorite pub quiz master in town will continue to befuddle you every Tuesday night, but until The Camel Puxi re-opens Tuesday Night Pub Quiz will be held at The Hop Project.
On another note, while you're out to bid the Camel boys a short and sweet farewell, drop on by one of their other establishments El Luchador on YKL, which will be throwing their final bash on the street today too.
