It always feels good to give, and when charity and comedy combine it creates a recipe for the biggest smiles around.
On August 3rd, 'Who Can Raise the Most Laughs?' - an evening of art, laughter and charity - was held to raise RMB118,051.68 for Charity 9958.
Held at ART LABOR Gallery (with special thanks to Martin!), the event was hosted by Elyse Ribbons and comedian Jiang Kun and was organized by The Good Agency Asia (TGAA), the organization also behind this year's Chi Fan for Charity. Throughout the night, comedians worked to win the crowd over, competing to raise both laughs and donations for Charity 9958, a burn victim emergency hotline that cares for disadvantaged youths.
Alongside Cian Greaney's video 'Laughter is the Best Medicine', photographs taken by Milos Gazdic of Strak! Studios were displayed and sold with proceeds going to Charity 9958.
The charity uses the donations to fund surgeries and aftercare costs of the children as well as support their families. Funds from the event will be added to the already RMB3 million The Good Agency Asia has rasied for Charity 9958 through their 'Laughter is the Best Medicine' campaign.
This year's Chi Fan for Charity takes place November 12 and will raise money for Shanghai Young Bakers and Educating Girls of Rural China. For more information, see their official website.
