Just because Shanghai's clouds are teary, doesn't mean you have to be as well! Check out some exciting group activities we recommend to burn off that cabin fever. They are fun, get the blood pumping and all have one important thing in common...they're indoors!
Laser Tag
Bring your days indoors to the next level with a thrilling game of laser tag. You can hide, you can run and you can use your recon skills to spot your friends (in this case, your enemies) and kill them all before they get you! Loud music and a fog machine on full blast intensify the experience even more. We recommend Planet Laser Tag, which offers an impressive arsenal of weapons that make laser tag more than a matter of simply hitting a moving target.
Cost: 118 rmb per person with party packages

Go-Karting
When the rain starts to really come down not even the most dedicated of athletes like to venture outside, except maybe for a protein shake. So for those of you itching to burn off that extra energy, we recommend heading down to the race track and driving some speedy go karts at Disc Cart Indoor Karting. That's intern Caleb Jasso's personal best is 11 laps in 38 seconds; we challenge you to beat it!
Cost: 8 mins on the track for RMB100

Indoor Rock Climbing
Is the annoying pitter-patter outside thwarting all your outdoor fitness plans? Indoor rock climbing can be a great alternative. Shanghai is home to several rock climbing stadiums where you can work up a sweat and have fun at the same time. Hengyi Indoors Rock Climbing Gym provides rental harnesses and shoes. Beginners can start on easy walls with ropes to keep safe, and the climbing gym has trainers on hand to teach you the basics. They can also give you en route instructions if you lose your sense of direction way up high, and help you down when you are exhausted. Experienced climbers can explore more challenging rope-free bouldering areas and tricky overhangs. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, but when you make it to the top of a wall, the overwhelming sense of fulfillment is worth all the effort.
Cost: RMB40 on weekdays and RMB50 on weekends for unlimited climbing.

Fencing
Ever wanted to be a knight in shining armor? Or a Star Wars Jedi perhaps? Zorro? Consider fencing, an indoor sport that combines physical and mental demands, aerobic with anaerobic fitness, even history and technology. Whatever type of athletic ability (or lack thereof) you have, fencing has something that floats your boat with its three different weapon types: epee, foil, and saber. Epee requires high levels of creativity and critical thinking, with comparatively lower demands on physical fitness. Foil requires agility and it’s a pretty even mix of physical and mental fitness. Saber sets the highest bar for physical fitness and it’s the weapon type featured in Zorro. Give fencing a try at SECA Academy in Puxi or Pudong.
Cost: Costs vary for group lessons and private lessons. Details in listing.

Mr. X
Shanghai 'puzzle house' Mr. X normally consists of 1-5 locked rooms with varying levels of difficulty. Players need to solve puzzles and riddles and find the right objects to move on in the game, and eventually find the key to unlock the door and escape. The game requires logical thinking, patience and good problem solving skills. All that, and you only have an hour to complete the puzzle and escape from the room. Many friendships has been fortified in the Mr. X trenches, and possibly even more have ended...
Cost: RMB120 per person
