A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. Space Touching of Defamiliarization
Devoted to spotlighting emerging talents in China’s art scene, C14 Gallery has moved from its Gao’an Lu digs to open the first art gallery situated within the Pudong Expo Area. They’re taking advantage of the extra space with the venue’s opening exhibition, This group show features Anderson & Low, Christian Chambenoit, Liz Hingley, Guo Guozhu, Yan Yibo and Zhang Jin.

2. Cathalijn Wouters: Gravity & Grace
The Dutch artist has been turning heads around the globe with her ink on paper calligraphy works. ArtCN hosts her first solo exhibition show in China.

3. Lin Weixiang: Rewriting Beyond Reality
The Guangzhou based artist makes his Art+ Shanghai solo debut exploring “existentialist themes of the human subject and authentic expression.” Mixing acrylic painting with patterned fabric, Lin explores how individuals react to their environment and the two possible outcomes: adjust or react against. In addition, a selection of sculptures by Chongqing-based Hu Ke will be displayed.

4. Ren Zhitan: Insight & Mind
Art Labor hosts the Beijing based abstract artist known for working with unconventional materials. Inside & Mind features Ren’s recent work on marble and rice paper.

5. Wang Tong: Re Re Reenactment
Raised during the Cultural Revolution, Wang’s childhood memories have inspired his work since his 1990s Mao on the Wall series. After his Forging Cities series captured China’s rapid urbanization, he began exploring with role play. Re Re Renactment features Wang as the Chairman recontextualizing the mass propaganda of his youth by placing them in modern settings.

6. Vik Muniz
The Brazilian-born artist returns to Shanghai with this solo exhibition highlighting his colorful works that incorporate unconventional objects from diamonds to garbage.
