Bella Napoli
Both branches of this cozy Italian trattoria are hosting a three-course dinner, including Grand Marnier tiger prawns, porcini mushroom and scallop ravioli, chocolate fondant dessert and a glass of sparkling wine for RMB328.

Jing'an-based French eatery and cognac lounge, Maison Camus, is throwing a Valentine's Day two-person set menu for RMB688, including house wine and cognac. Reservations required.

The Press by Inno Coffee
This casual Italian eatery and coffee house on Nanjing Dong Lu is celebrating Valentine's Day with a six-course dinner for RMB688 per couple, including house-made red loveheart-shaped lobster ravioli, seared scallops and spicy chocolate mousse with pistachio and mint.

Coquille
The celebrated French bistro is hosting a luxe set menu, including a selection of David Herve oysters, oscietra caviar, scallops on the half shell, snow crab, slow-cooked wagyu beef plus dessert for RMB1088 per couple.

Scarpetta
Cozy Italian sister restaurant to Coquille, Scarpetta has a selection of Valentine's Day specials, including blue lobster risotto (RMB228), seared foie gras (RMB108), 750g aged T-bone steak (RMB728), and strawberry cream cheese ice cream with olive oil cake and toasted almond brittle (RMB68).

JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square
The JW Marriott in the heart of People's Square has Valentine's Day celebrations at three of their in-house restaurants. Afternoon tea at their Lobby Lounge includes tiramisu, vanilla strawberry tarts, scones and more for RMB358 (plus 15 percent) per couple. The Marriott Café hosts an all-you-can-eat buffet including free-flow red or white wine for RMB988 net per couple, while JW's California Grill has a five-course menu of steak and lobster for RMB1588 net per couple, and includes a welcome glass of Champagne and an after drink at JW's Lounge.

M1NT Restaurant & Grill
Find a five-course Valentine's Day set menu presented by chef Daniel Smeenk for RMB888 per couple (plus 10 percent). On the menu is smoked Norwegian salmon carpaccio, poultry consommé with mushroom dumplings, pan-fried halibut, Angus tenderloin steak and chocolate ganache dessert.

The Peninsula
The Bund-based super luxe hotel is getting in the mood for love at all three of its in-house restaurants. The Lobby Lounge offers a five-course dinner, plus a dessert and chocolate buffet (from 8.30pm onwards) for RMB588 per person. Yi Long Court offers fine dining Cantonese, with eight courses at RMB1,298 per person, and Sir Elly's (pictured above) offers six courses of contemporary French food, plus a glass of Champagne each for RMB2,088 per person. Prices subject to 15 percent service charge.

The Fairmont Peace Hotel
Art deco architectural masterpiece, the Fairmont Peace Hotel, has a four- or five-course set dinner at The Cathay Room for RMB988/1288 (plus 15 percent), and includes foie gras, lobster, rib eye beefsteak and more.

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund
This Bund-based luxury hotel has a variety of Valentine's Day activities, including an eight-course Chinese menu at Wei Jing Ge; oysters, lobster, wagyu and a glass of Champagne at The Grand Brasserie or afternoon tea at Salon de Ville (February 13-14) for RMB688 per person, or push the boat out and go for six-course French fine dining at Pelham's for RMB988 per person, including a glass of Champagne. Prices subject to 15 percent service.

Table No.1
Chef Christopher Pitts has designed an eight-course menu for Valentine's Day, including Fine de Claire No.2 oysters, cured Iberico pork, monkfish roulade, milk-fed veal and port soufflé with pear and buttermilk sorbet to finish. They've also designed a candy box of six housemade chocolates for guests to take home, including chocolate truffles and star anise caramels.

Commune Social
Commune Social, the other Jason Atherton concept in Shanghai, is putting on a special Valentine's Day brunch. They're also offering a half dozen Boudeuse No.4 oysters plus a bottle of Vilanau Cava for RMB388. Cheers!

Hakkasan
This upscale Cantonese restaurant on the Bund is offering an ultra luxurious set menu for RMB999 per person including signature crispy duck, pan-fried foie gras blinis and an exclusive dessert created specially for this year's Valentine's Day, accompanied by live music. Guests will also received a complimentary gift box containing scented candle and massage oil.

Glam
This chic yet relaxed lounge bar and restaurant is offering an RMB788 (plus 10 percent) menu of eight dishes to be shared, including soft shell crab with chili jam, truffle and honey glazed lamb rack and ile flottante (soft meringues in crème anglaise), plus two Champagne cocktails. They're also offering a 375ml bottle of Perrier-Joët Champagne and six Fine de Claire No.4 oysters for RMB458 (before 7pm and after 10pm only).

The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi
Find an extensive international dinner buffet at Cachet Restaurant, which also includes two main courses à la carte, two glasses of sparkling rosé and a box of chocolates for RMB1,288 per couple. Tang Court (pictured above) is preparing two Cantonese eight-course dinner menus priced at RMB880 (including two glasses of house wine) or RMB1080 per person option (including a wine pairing with each course). Prices subject to 15 percent service.

Shanghai Renaissance Caohejing
Out in Minhang? Café BLD at the Shanghai Renaissance Caohejing offers a Valentine's Day buffet of international dishes including Australian prime rib, lamb chops, teriyaki fish, Singaporean laksa, Alaskan king crab, Chilean blue mussels and 'AAAA grade' red tuna and a selection of desserts, plus a whole grilled Canadian lobster for each couple and free-flow sparkling pink rosé, house wine, beer, juice and soft drinks for RMB656 (plus 15 percent) per couple. The Westin Bund Center, Shanghai
The hotel that brought Shanghai the enduringly popular Champagne-doused Sunday brunch extravaganza is offering a luxurious seafood buffet for Valentine's Day 2016. Choose from a selection of international dishes, seafood, a dessert buffet plus a glass of Champagne each and a romantic gift for RMB888 per couple. Upgrade to RMB1188 per couple and they'll throw in a whole bottle of Tattinger Champers.
Meanwhile their Italian restaurant Prego is offering a five-course candlelit dinner, at RMB888 per couple with a glass of Tattinger. Upgrade to RMB1188 per couple for the whole bottle.

The MEAT, Kerry Hotel Pudong
Sink your teeth into a carnivorous menu at the Kerry Hotel Pudong's flagship restaurant and brewery. They're offering a weekend brunch for RMB350 (plus 15 percent per) adult (RMB228 plus 15 percent for kids aged 5-12), including free-flow sparkling wine, house wine and craft beer. A four-course dinner including a welcome drink and gift is available for RMB698 (plus 15 percent) per person.

Radisson Blu Plaza Xing Guo Hotel Shanghai
Café Li Brasserie at the Radisson hotel in the former French Concession has a seafood buffet dinner with free-flow red and white wine, draft beer, soft drinks and juice for RMB660 per couple.

Over Night Bar
This cosy whisky and cocktail bar is putting on a quirky Valentine's event for those wishing to get drunk on love. For RMB100 per person, each couple will receive three drinks and a 'loving lock' to lock onto the wall, in the style of Paris' Pont des Arts bridge. They've also got a selection of romantic cocktails to get you into the mood.
