From basketball to rugby, sailing to water polo and just about every code of football you can imagine, Shanghai is alive with the exploits of amateur sportsmen and women taking part in competitions in all its glorious forms.

Once a year, we gather to recognize those who have truly made their mark on the city’s sporting scene: the home-run hitters, the KO punchers, the pool cue masters and the puck-smashers whom we couldn’t win without. They’re our friends, our family and, occasionally, our blood-thirsty rivals.
