A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. Shutterbug Charity Photography Exhibition
Migrant students share their vision of beauty at this exhibition that highlights the Shutterbug Program. With cameras donated by HandsOn Shanghai, migrant children are encouraged to explore their individual creativity. The captivating images they snapped will be available for purchase with proceeds returning to the program for funding additional cameras and resources.

2. Sun Jie & Jie Sun
The Dutch-Chinese contemporary jewelry artist shows off 10 series of pieces created in the past five years. Considered a pioneer in his field, the award-winning Jie Sun will show off works like ‘Camouflage’ and ‘Big Fish,’ which are part of the permanent collections of Musuem of Fine Arts Houston and CODA Museum The Netherlands. He’ll also be showing off his latest series, Young & Beautiful, which he collaborated with international crystal manufacturer PRECIOSA.

3. Harry Potter - The Exhibition
This global hit has been viewed by more than 3 million visitors and brings the world of Harry Potter to Super Brand Mall. Visitors will be able to explore some of the film’s most popular locations like Hagrid’s Hut and the Forbidden Forest. Guests can toss a Quaffle ball in the Quidditch area and pull their own Mandrake in the Herbology classroom. Exclusive audio tour with behind-the-scenes commentary from producers and prop designers complement the thousands of authentic props, costumes and creatures that fill the exhibit.

4. The Ballad of Generation Y

For the fourth year in a row, OCAT Shanghai toasts China’s young emerging artists. The Ballad of Generation Y features works from 10 artists aross a variety of medias as part of OCAT’s annual Youn Artist Project. Media artist Zhang Ga curates the show which expands on his online exhibition, Folklore of the Cber World by bringing its physical incarnation to the museum. Artists featured are Liu Xin, Shen Xin, Guo Xi, Zhang Jiangling, Liu Jiayu, Guo Cheng, Chen Yiyun, Lin Ke, Miao Ying (pictured above) and Ye Funa.

5. Da Vinci: The Genius
The folks behind the hit summer show Van Gogh Alive pay tribute to the Renaissance legend. This massive exhibition brings to life the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci as an inventor, artist, scientist, anatomist, engineer, architect, sculptor and philosopher. Models of Da Vinci’s ideas have been created from early prototypes of SCUBA gear to a double-flute. Digital replicas of his greatest works like the Mona Lisa (see cover image) will illustrate the genius behind his artistry.

6. Hyung Koo Kang: Frameless Heads
MoCA hosts this retrospective of famed Korean artist, Hyung Goo Kang. Revered for his hyper realistic portraits, Kang is considered one of the leaders in the Korean Pop art movement. Frameless Heads takes inspiration from Don Maclean’s 1970’s ballad Vincent and will mix Kang’s self-portraits and depictions of famous celebrities. A documentary about the artist will be screened on the third floor, which also includes a replica of his studio.
