This exhibition salutes the Hokkaido-born next generation architect. Fujimoto has taken on more than 100 projects like the Musahino Art University Museum & Library. His work grapples with the relationship between spaces and the city. Futures of the Future presents around 100 models of Fujimoto’s past and current projects, introducing his innovative ideas and production process.

// Until Oct 30. Power Station of Art.

4. Bernard Faucon: That Summer

201510/bernardfauconlebanquet.jpg

Since 1976, Bernard Faucon has established a unique aesthetic in contemporary photography. Rather than attempt to “shoot the image,” Faucon preferred building meticulous scenes that convey the real through fabrication. In his first major exhibition in Shanghai, That Summer explores the magic of childhood and play.

// Until Nov 1. Matthew Liu Fine Arts.

5. Olivier Widmaier Picasso – Revealed

201509/revealed.jpgAs Pablo Picasso’s grandson, Olivier Widmaier Picasso had intimate access to the world’s greatest modern artists. Revealed shows such masters as Salvador Dali, Francis Bacon and Pablo Picasso himself at work, offering a rare glimpse into the artistic process of these greats. The exhibition is in the midst of a world tour that has already wowed North America.

// Oct 13-Nov 2. Sofitel Shanghai Hyland, see event listing.

6. Dali's Fantastic Universe

201510/dalifantasticuniverse.jpg

Speaking of Dali, Bund 18 hosts one of two major exhibitions set to take over Shanghai over the next few months. Dali’s Fantastic Universe has been seen by over 10 million people across 80 museums worldwide and features over 300 Dali pieces. Major highlights include 24 large bronze statues, ‘Spellbound’ (see cover image) and his Mae West Lips sofa. However, rarer works like 10 original Tarot collages and lithographs inspired by Carmen showcase the diversity and productivity of the surrealist master. Guests at Mr. & Mrs. Bund will want to look out for one of the Dali statues that has found a temporary home there.

// Until Jan 10. Bund 18, see event listing. Tickets.
