Oct 2: Ranking Joe

rankingjoe.jpgNewly refurbished, The Shelter kicks off their Golden Week weekend by welcoming the legendary Jamaican vocalist. The Kingston born signer released his debut single 40 years ago and has slayed countless releases with his trademark speedy tongue twisters. He’ll be joined by Shanghai’s finest reggae and dancehall selectors and vocalists like Jado, DJ Maze, Skinny Brown, Howell and LaoBang. The show will also feature the first ever live performance between Ranking Joe and Shanghai’s ChaCha of their 10” vinyl release, ‘One Day You Will Know.’

Oct 3: ATB

201509/atb.jpgSince topping the UK charts with his 1999 single ‘9pm (Til I Come),’ ATB has remained a worldwide favorite for trance fans.

Oct 3: Lola 5th Anniverary - John Acquaviva

johnacquaviva.jpgTo celebrate their milestone birthday and more than 7,280 hours of good music, Lola is going wild all month long by booking some of the world’s most respected DJs and producers. Things kick off on October 3 with Canadian techno icon John Acqaviva, followed by German electroclash star DJ Hell (Oct 10), live house favorites Supernova (Oct 16), Mannheim based A&R, DJ and producer Alex Flatner (Oct 17), Australian-Turkish tech house favorite Murat Kilik (Oct 23), mysterious duo Kotellet & Zadak (Oct 24) and the ever-infectious Till Von Sein (Oct 30). Things cap off with a Halloween/birthday rager on October 31.

Oct 3-4: Budweiser STORM Electronic Music Festival

It’s been an amazing ascent for the Shanghai EDM megafest. Paris Hilton was among the 24,000 people who partied hard during the inaugural 2013 edition, while last year’s attracted 35,000 people. This year looks even bigger with a star-studded line-up. While Avicci has once again pulled out, the line-up still includes three-time DJ Magazine’s No. 1 DJ Tiesto, Skrillex, Paul Oakenfold, Flo Rida, A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Blasterjaxx, DVBSS and so much more. Oct 4: Psychemagik

Oct 4: Headhunterz

Max Shen, Deep 19 and Yoshinaga team up to spin tech house, deep house and techno in a 4x4 style.

M1NT and MVP Shanghai team up to ring in the holidays with a chic Parisian themed party.

Vicetone

The anthemic EDM act returns to Shanghai to rock M2.

From 1992 to the Future

The Void crew previews Jeff Mill’s second installment looking at the art of DJing in modern times. Following the screening, DJs Wensen, Shanghai Ultra, Ginzburg, Nat Alexander and Nmlss will spin their favorite tracks from Mill’s Axis record label.

Girls Night Out

Bar Rouge and MVP Shanghai team up for their popular weekly ladies night. Girl get free cocktails and manicures until 11.30pm, DJ B-Kut spins while male shirtless dancers and waiters titulate. Dress code: mandatory high-heels for girls and gentle manners for boys.

Love Alive

Velvet Robot and friends spin a night of disco.

Arkham Underground

In the latest installment of this recurring series, Thomas Ward teams with Yeti’s Alan Wolf and China Social Club’s Frau for a funk-fuelled party.

MIDI Electronic Official Afterparty

The Mansion hosts the official afterparty for the MIDI Electronic Festival with 10 to 20 DJs dropping by to spin. A festival bus leaves at 11pm and is available for RMB100 (with two drinks).

Shackup

The Beijing based producer is among the leaders in the country’s burgeoning electronic underground, adding artful touches to his bass sound. Sleeples, Alta, Naah and Aivilox support.

Arkham Presents Vacuum

For the holiday weekend, Arkham presents two nights celebrating some of the city’s top DJs. Vacuum Volume 1 features hip hop, trap and future bass spun by DJ Cavia, Tsunano and ChuChu! The next night is a house and techno affair, with sets by DONN, Will A and Oshi.

Anti-EDM Festival #2

Love Bang takes over The Mansion with 10 of the city’s underground favorites for a second straight year rebelling against commercial EDM and spinning everything from dancehall to juke.

Voltage Divider

The live experimental electronic showcase features sets by Niterens Xu, FM3 and Charm, Goooose, Peng Zhuang and Soundspade. BRKR and Dogma Lab provide visuals and installations.
