Oct 2: Ranking Joe
Newly refurbished, The Shelter kicks off their Golden Week weekend by welcoming the legendary Jamaican vocalist. The Kingston born signer released his debut single 40 years ago and has slayed countless releases with his trademark speedy tongue twisters. He’ll be joined by Shanghai’s finest reggae and dancehall selectors and vocalists like Jado, DJ Maze, Skinny Brown, Howell and LaoBang. The show will also feature the first ever live performance between Ranking Joe and Shanghai’s ChaCha of their 10” vinyl release, ‘One Day You Will Know.’

Oct 3: Lola 5th Anniverary - John Acquaviva
To celebrate their milestone birthday and more than 7,280 hours of good music, Lola is going wild all month long by booking some of the world’s most respected DJs and producers. Things kick off on October 3 with Canadian techno icon John Acqaviva, followed by German electroclash star DJ Hell (Oct 10), live house favorites Supernova (Oct 16), Mannheim based A&R, DJ and producer Alex Flatner (Oct 17), Australian-Turkish tech house favorite Murat Kilik (Oct 23), mysterious duo Kotellet & Zadak (Oct 24) and the ever-infectious Till Von Sein (Oct 30). Things cap off with a Halloween/birthday rager on October 31.

Oct 3-4: Budweiser STORM Electronic Music Festival
It’s been an amazing ascent for the Shanghai EDM megafest. Paris Hilton was among the 24,000 people who partied hard during the inaugural 2013 edition, while last year’s attracted 35,000 people. This year looks even bigger with a star-studded line-up. While Avicci has once again pulled out, the line-up still includes three-time DJ Magazine’s No. 1 DJ Tiesto, Skrillex, Paul Oakenfold, Flo Rida, A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Blasterjaxx, DVBSS and so much more. Girls Night Out

For the holiday weekend, Arkham presents two nights celebrating some of the city’s top DJs. Vacuum Volume 1 features hip hop, trap and future bass spun by DJ Cavia, Tsunano and ChuChu! The next night is a house and techno affair, with sets by DONN, Will A and Oshi.

Love Bang takes over The Mansion with 10 of the city’s underground favorites for a second straight year rebelling against commercial EDM and spinning everything from dancehall to juke.
