Hollywood is dead, long live Lola!
Or so some might say when hearing this particular nugget of nightlife gossip. The rumors are true, Euro-style electro lounge club Lola is taking over last chance saloon late-night dance club Hollywood's location on Yueyang Lu (by Dongping Lu).
Lola's announcement that they'd be closing their popular Surpass Court location due to noise complaints sparked a wave of dismay and lament amongst Shanghai's clubbing community, no doubt everyone will be pleased that Lola's lineup of international DJs will continue in Hollywood's larger, more club-like space. Although let's face it, everyone spent at least 50 percent of their time at Lola chatting and smoking on the Surpass Court terraces out front.
Meanwhile for the student/slavic model community at large, news of Hollywood's closure signals the end of an era of theme parties, buffets, hookups and hangovers. No word yet on whether management will be opening a new location of Hollywood elsewhere...
