A 45-year-old man in Shanghai appeared in court today under charges of fraud and bigamy, after he allegedly posed as a director for HSBC and married four women.

Shen Liping fathered three children with his various wives, who all thought he was not only top banker but was only on the verge of being appointed deputy mayor of Shanghai.

Shen's alleged fraud was reportedly discovered by one his wives after she realized that he was only renting their apartment and did not own it. Only then did she also discover that he cheated her out of RMB2.6 million by saying his business was in a tight spot and he needed some extra cash to tide it over.

In an interview with Shanghai TV, Shen said, "I have lofty ideals about love and emotion. I can't stand the fact that the women around me are imperfect."

Obviously, he's been way too busy juggling his many lives to take a good, long look in the mirror.
