In Germany, asparagus is a symbol of the spring season and very popular when the weather gets warmer. There are different types of asparagus, the white, green and violet one. The most popular is the white one, also known as “pale asparagus”, “white gold” or “the royal vegetable”.
During the Asparagus season from end of April until early summer, the average German enjoys the delicate flavor of this tender spring vegetable several times a week. Asparagus is prepared and served in many different ways. The classic one goes with ham, potatoes and sauce hollandaise or with meat and fish.
From April 22 onwards, all four restaurants of Paulaner Bräuhaus Shanghai will offer traditional White Asparagus dishes, which can be chosen from a small a la carte selection as long as the season lasts.
