MDC, MDC (Millions of Delicious Candies...the actual name is a little too racy for the likes o’ this place haha) is an American punk rock band formed in Austin, Texas in 1981. They spearheaded the North American hardcore movement with their contemporaries Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Poison Idea, Black Flag and DOA. MDC’s debut album set the standard for the genre and is on countless essential albums lists of punk rock and hardcore; even making it onto the 10th spot of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain’s top 50 albums list. They released material through ex-Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra's independent Alternative Tentacles label as well as D.O.A. singer Joe “Shithead” Keithley’s Sudden Death Records. They’ve been touring the world for over 35 years and will now embark on their first ever tour of the People’s Republic of China with American punk band The Elected Officials and Shanghai’s very own ROUND EYE who will be releasing their 2nd LP on Sudden Death Records this spring.
