Highly unassuming from the outside, you'd never guess that in this low-key cafeteria are some of Shanghai's most technically perfect xiaolongbao (小笼包,soup dumplings). As writer Christopher St Cavish calculated in his Shanghai Soup Dumpling Index, these xiaolongbao have the thinnest skin out of every restaurant in the city. Not just this, but the pork inside is noted for its perfect flavor and formation, and an aromatic broth clear like a consommé. It might be out of the way, but these xiaolongbao are certainly worth the journey.
