I would be lying if I said I didn't have butterflies in my stomach just writing about what awaits me in three days time - fight night.
After 3 months of slaving it away in the gym the night is rapidly approaching and I really wish I had another couple of weeks to prepare!! Last night we had our final training session, our trainers job is over now its down to us and what we can do on the night! The focus is keeping our mind clear despite the fact that I'll have close to 700 inebriated people baying for blood and yelling at me - the closest I guess I'll ever get to the gladiators of ancient Rome.
And just like the gladiators in a way we're there to entertain on the night and give our friends and family that have put up with our constant boxing chat over the past 3 months something to enjoy. For me this means going hard in my fight but trying to put into practice what I've learnt in training, to maintain my technique and not let the crowd get to me - and most importantly despite the name of the event avoid getting into a brawl.
So if you ask me was it worth it? For sure! I've mastered self control in a city renound for leading one astray, I've challenged myself both physically and mentally, I've got rid of that blasted beer belly just in time for Christmas and most importantly of all I'll have a great piss up on Friday night when its all over!
So that's it from me now I just need to dream of fight for another three nights and use those combos I've been working on.
