Five-star junkies traveling from the Paris of the East to the Venice of the East should book the Kempinski Hotel. Situated in the Suzhou Industrial Park (kind of like a little Pudong), the sparkling tower is equipped for both business and pleasure. Let’s begin with pleasure. First up, it has a Paulaner Brauhaus. Sipping fresh-brewed beer right on Dushu Lake sounds pretty, pretty pleasurable. Equally gorgeous lake views can also be taken in from some of Suzhou’s largest guest rooms. Situated amongst plants and fountains, the impressive indoor 50 m swimming pool is topped off by a luxurious Jacuzzi with panoramic garden views. The health club offers aerobics classes and, for those who move at a slower pace, the recreation room has billiards and mahjong. There’s also a full service spa with Zen-inducing Thai yoga massages and Brazilian coffee scrubs. When guests do have to work, Kempinski’s business offerings include many conference rooms and a 1,850 sqm grand ballroom. For those execs who’d rather get down to biz on the green, the Jinji Lake International Golf Course is right next door. Fore!
