Completing the Loft 98 trio is a warm one-room Italian enoteca run by familiar faces on the party scene Mattia Visconti and Marco Bettio. They have given the place (formerly Cantine Bistro) an overhaul, with the exposed brick complemented by lots of warming dark wood, simple seating and soft lighting. The vibe is fun and friendly, a nice buzz in the air yet completely relaxed. Wine starts at RMB45 for a glass and around RMB200 a bottle and covers almost every region of Italy, including the “Super Tuscan” of Sassicaia (although that will set you back RMB2,600). The menu is as you would expect; a lot from the deli counter with an emphasis on quality ingredients. Meat and cheese boards (RMB130) as well as three types of mozzarella (RMB90) and butter mozzarella from south Italy, known as burrata (RMB120) are all perfect to be shared, while classics pizza and lasagna are very reasonably priced at RMB38 and RMB48 respectively. This area has been screaming out for a place like this for years, and these guys seem to have got it spot on. We can see it becoming a firm favorite.
