Spots for the Yazhou Bay gala and the open forum have almost been completely taken, so if you would like to sign up to attend this free event, do so quickly.

The gala has nine performances lined up, including Li people dances, Brazilian dancers, guzheng and pipa, cute children’s dances, a martial arts performance and more. These performances are quite the treat for the audience as many are usually reserved for tourists.

There are 35 lucky draws, including prizes valued up to RMB5,000.

The dinner leans toward a healthy mix of Chinese and international foods, including chaofan, chicken hamburgers, beef vegetable medley, chicken vegetable medley and fish vegetable medley.

At the gala, the award ceremony will honor community members.

We caught up with Rio Wakabayashi, CEO of Dalio Business Consulting Sanya, who was nominated and surprised to hear as such:

“I am honored to be nominated for the Yazhou Bay Award Ceremony. I want to make Sanya something special, not just following what other cities have done but better. Without expats, international publicity for Sanya will not grow bigger.

The name ‘Sanya’ does not even ring a bell for many foreigners. Why? Sanya may have been an amazing touristy place for eastern Europeans over the past years, but overall in the world, Sanya is unknown to many. Usually expats would not leave their comfortable life back home to move to somewhere they do not know about. Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong are the places expats are generally attracted to.

Many international cities are called ‘melting pots.’ Nothing can melt together without the pot. We will provide the pot for these foreign entrepreneurs. In the United States of America from 1700-1900s and even until now, many left their country to follow their dreams. It was called the ‘American Dream.’ In Sanya, we will create the ‘China Dream.’ I would like to be a window for that dream. I believe in hard work and persistence. I have a passion for connecting people. I hope I can be a good tool for Sanya’s future development.”

The open forum has received interest from community members about its nature and what the outcome will be. The topic will be focused on building a multicultural community, how the Yazhou Bay industry will support talent and the future plans of bringing global, leading projects in deep-sea and seed-breeding science and technology fields.

As mentioned previously, there will be multiple opportunities for networking and business along with forum members gathering advice from the international community.

Free transportation is provided for the open forum and gala at 2pm from Summer Mall car park, but if you are only able to make the gala, it’s a quick twenty-minute trip from Sanya Railway Station to Yazhou Bay’s stop.

You’ll take a taxi to the Sanya Railway Station and get a ticket on Ctrip for RMB13 to RMB39, depending on your seating preference. Make sure to pick the trip for these prices. If you’re seeing RMB200 and up, that’s for the roundtrip around the whole island. You definitely won’t make it to the gala on time.

After you arrive at the Yazhou Bay train depot, you’ll take a taxi to Sanya Yazhouwan Science and Technology City Administration. The whole trip from the Sanya Railway station takes approximately 40 minutes.

Return trip bus transportation will be available to take at 9.30pm.
