Velada

Authentic Spanish restaurant Velada is tucked away on the third level of the Sinopec Tower owned by two locals with a love for Spanish cuisine. Most of the ingredients are imported or sourced from the highest quality suppliers. Their chef, Joan Burgues is an international award winner from Barcelona. Weekly performances by a top South China dance teams entertain diners with jazz, latin and salsa dance.

We started with a mixed Paella of seafood and chicken (RMB 95) and Salmorejo with raspberry jam and quail eggs (RMB 40). The extended menu of cold and hot tapas includes the classics Scramble Eggs with Jabugo Ham (RMB 70), Octopus in a new ‘a feira’ Galicia style (RMB 129) and Fillet with butter cafe Paris and mascarpone ball (RMB 155).

We also had contemporary dishes including Foie poele with apple vanilla cream and reduced Oporto (RMB 180) and Caldereta rice of fresh Canadian lobster (RMB 385). We then finished with an Apple Drum with with chocolate and black olive (RMB 35).

Attached to the restaurant is a large wine cellar featuring the best European wines including the Spanish favorite Casabrolo.
