Exhibition: Mexico’s Memories

Organized by the Consulate General of Mexico in Guangzhou, exhibition Mexico’s Memories presents works from two notable Mexican painters – Carlos Vivar and Max Sanz - in an attempt to illustrate how traditional Mexican art connects with the contemporary and how the country communicates with the world.

Carlos Vivar is known for incorporating bold colors, heavy historical sense and rich poetic flavor into his paintings. One can easily notice the ethnic totems drawn in his works. After holding the successful exhibition La Nao de China this past April, Max Sanz is set to return to China again with a new set of works centered about animals. Happiness and sorrow, anger and ecstasy are among some of the human emotions given to animals in Sanz’s paintings. The artist expects viewers to feel the hilarity and loneliness brought by surrealism depicted in his works.
