Beat the heat with eels

Rather than a cooling glass of ice tea, in Japan it is traditional to refresh during the hot summer months by eating freshwater eel, known in Japanese as unagi. Particularly on the Day of the Ox, which this year falls on July 29, people in the Land of the Rising Sun will devour a portion of grilled eel to keep their nutrients up.
