Last month, Guangzhou officially opened a new cross-river pedestrian bridge, linking Yuexiu and Tianhe with Haizhu district.
He Jingtang, who led the bridge design team, said the Haixin bridge is the first pedestrian bridge to cross the Pearl River in the provincial capital, as cited by China Daily. “The Cantonese-style design fully embodies the depth of Lingnan culture and the image of Guangzhou as a modern international metropolis,” said He.

The bridge covers 1.26 million square meters, running through part of Ersha Island – home to the Xinghai Concert Hall and several parks, soccer fields and makeshift cricket stumps.
The Haixin bridge has drawn in quite a crowd since its opening and serves as a leisure way to walk or bike from Haizhu to Tianhe and Yuexiu.
Since the bridge is capped to 2,500 visitors per hour, you’ll need to book an appointment first. You can do this by adding ‘海心桥’ (Haixin Qiao) on WeChat.
