Tue-Sun, Sept 24-29: 2019 Evergrande World Snooker China Championship

Renowned snooker stars will give it their best shot in Guangzhou this week as they battle for the 2019 Evergrande China Championship. In the six-day contest, the world’s top 16 snooker players, including Mark Selby, John Higgins, Judd Trump and Ding Junhui, as well as a dozen other professionals will compete with each other for prizes totaling GBP750,000. The winner will walk away with a cool GBP150,000.

Wed, Sept 25: Vienna Boys’ Choir

With a history spanning five centuries, the celebrated Vienna Boys’ Choir are, without a doubt, one of the world’s best boys’ choirs and are as reputable as the Vienna Philharmonic. World-class composers and conductors such as Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and Bruckner were once members of the choir, which is divided into four touring choirs named after these four musical masters. Though based in Austria, the choir is comprised of talented young vocalists from all around the world.

Ballet Anna Karenina by Russia’s top choreographer Boris Eifman is emotionally tense. Casting aside all other storylines from Tolstoy’s complex, namesake novel, the ballet focuses on the love triangle among the heroine Anna, her husband Karenin and her lover Vronsky. Through the tested skills of the dancers and Eifman’s astounding choreography, this balletic work conveys timeless human emotions that will still resonate with viewers today.

Fri, Sept 27: London Symphony Orchestra Classical Music

Performing over 120 concerts a year, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) has been named by Gramophone as one of the top five orchestras in the world. Having an enviable roster of artists, the LSO have enjoyed residencies at the Barbican in London, Lincoln Center in New York, Salle Pleyel in Paris and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. During their Guangzhou concert, the famed orchestra will play under the baton of world-class maestro Simon Rattle and will be accompanied by Grammy-winning Emanuel Ax on the piano.
