Weather Warning for Heavy Rain and Wind in Effect in Guangzhou

A yellow warning for thunder and lightning, heavy wind and torrential rain is currently in effect in Guangzhou, according to Guangzhou Weather Bureau. All districts in Guangzhou are forecasting thundershowers from 11am-2pm, accompanied by level 6-7 gusts.

On Saturday, intermediate to heavy rain has been forecasted with a high of 26 degrees Celsius and a low of 21 degrees. Meanwhile, we can expect thunderstorms and heavy rain with a high of 25 and low of 22 on Sunday.

The bureau also announced this morning that parents can delay bringing their children to school, if they feel it neccessary, as a result of the harsh weather conditions.

The extreme weather began yesterday afternoon, with hail raining down in Zengcheng District and streets flooding across Guangzhou as a result of the rain. In Shenzhen, four people were killed after a flash flood occured in Luohu District, with several others still missing.

Please excercise caution when out and about today.
