Tue, Mar 12: Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center Jazz Band

Featuring nine-time Grammy winner and Pulitzer Prize recipient Wynton Marsalis, an American trumpeter who will take the stage alongside the jazz ensemble of the prominent Lincoln Center. This concert will offer some classic jazzy tunes, such as ‘Braggin in Brass,’ ‘My Pretty Girl’ and ‘Sleepwalkers Serenade.’

Tue, Mar 12: Laetitia Colombani Book Sharing

Laetitia Colombani's first novel, The Braid, was published to worldwide acclaim. Translated into nearly twenty languages, even before its publication in France, it has received numerous literary prizes. The novel focuses on the lives of three embattled women: a mother from Badlapur, India flees with her daughter so her child will have the chance for a better life; a daughter who must take over her dead father's business in Palermo, Sicily; and a woman who faces a serious illness while working in a ruthless professional environment in Montreal, Quebec. Each story depicts the harsh realities some women face in the modern world. Laetitia Colombani's visit to China will be her first opportunity to make her feminist voice heard as part of both International Women's Rights Day and the Francophonie Festival.

Wed, Mar 13: Paul Draper

Coming off a successful acoustic tour in the UK, British rocker Paul Draper arrives in China this month to perform in the PRC for the very first time. Former frontman of the rock band Mansun, Draper released Spooky Action in 2017. While reminiscent of the celebrated sound of Mansun, the album has garnered a mixed reception. His China tour will feature guitarist Ben Stink.

Wed, Mar 13: Guangzhou Long-Lions Vs. Jilin Northeast Tigers

It’s the final game of the season. The Guangzhou Long-lions (22-23) will host the Jilin Northeast Tigers (24-21) this Wednesday, March 13. After losing three straight games, the Long-lions have one last chance to sneak into the playoffs with a victory and a Shanghai Sharks loss. Can they do it? Find out this Wednesday at the Tianhe Gymnasium.

Wed, Mar 13: Riesling Celebration 


In celebration of the birth of Riesling wine, a famous white wine from Germany, Certiz and the German Wine Institute are hosting a great event featuring Riesling wine blind tasting with 30 select wines, delicious German cuisine and a raffle game with amazing prizes, including a three-day wine tour in Germany. Attendees will be exposed to various aspects of the German grape.

Thu, Mar 14: Bohan Phoenix

Bohan Phoenix begins his nine-date Overseas tour down south this week, taking in both Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Coinciding with the tour is the release of single ‘Yaode’ with Chengdu producer Harikiri, as well as a four-track EP, also called Yaode, which is set to be released on March 19. Don't miss out on your chance to catch what is sure to be another fantastic performance by the New York/Hubei rapper.

Until Mar 31: Let’s Play

Jouons! or Let’s play! is an exhibition which invites you to explore the idea of ‘playing’ from various different angles through photography and videos created by six artists from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. The works on display include a documentary on boxers in Australia by the French photographer Viviane Dalles, poetic and evocative images of the playful relationship between man and nature from the Haitian photographer Henry Roy and unorthodox depictions from the Finnish artist Elina Brotherus. Works by Thierry Fontaine and Mohamed Bourouissa shed light on the relationship between the concepts of play and money. The Malian photographer Fatoumata Diabate presents a series of black and white children’s masks and a photo studio inspired by Bamako’s famous portrait photographer, Malick Sidibe.

All month: Welcome Y’all to the Wild West
