That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Thu, Nov 1: Pershagen @ SD Livehouse
Swedish post rock band Pershagen are named after a suburban area in Stockholm. They formed in 2015, and have since released one EP and two studio albums, the latest of which, Tarfala, was released in May of this year. They bring with them a psychedelic streak and a fluid approach to the sometimes tired post rock genre, so grab your boots and head down to SD Livehouse if you want to hear something new.
Thu Nov 1, 8pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Nov 2-4: Sleepwait Arte Feast @ Zhujiang Party Pier and Art Culture District

Organized by Woodstock of Eating (a promising name if ever there was one) Sleepwait Arte Feast is an art, book and music fair taking place down at Party Pier over three evenings this weekend. In the business of creating artistic experiences for visitors, this night market is a must for anyone looking to connect with the creative side of Guangzhou.
Fri-Sun Nov 2-4, 4-11pm (Fri) 2-11pm (Sat and Sun); RMB30 one-day. Zhujiang Party Pier and Art Culture District. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri, Nov 2: 白百Endless White @ SD Livehouse

Shoegaze and dream-pop outfit 白百Endless White go out on tour this month, making their way to SD Livehouse to perform alongside local indie band Nouvelle on November 2. In support of their awesome debut studio album, Flow West to You, this is a chance to catch one of China’s very best young indie bands at the minute.
Fri Nov 2, 8.30pm; RMB60 students, RMB70 presale, RMB90 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Nov 3: Heat Mark @ 191 Space
Combining electronica with upbeat rock, and sometimes going so far as to channel a bit of punk, stylistically Heat Mark remind us of US band The Pretty Reckless, which may or may not be a compliment. At any rate, their music is top-notch and far exceeds the aforementioned US band, so head down to 191 Space this weekend to catch them play.
Sat Nov 3, 8pm; RMB80 presale, RMB120 at the door. 191 Space. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Nov 3: I Kong @ SD Livehouse
With all the talk surrounding trap music and hip hop, there seems to have been a quiet reggae revolution going on underground. Well maybe that's an overstatement, but Jamaican-Chinese musician I Kong is the first of two reggae acts playing in the South this November. Preceding Kawa, who arrive later in the month, this is I Kong's first ever time on the mainland, despite his Chinese roots.
Sat Nov 3, 11pm; RMB60 presale, RMB80 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
