That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best live performances happening this weekend:
Fri, Sept 21: The Royal Concept @ Mao Livehouse
While they haven’t released an album since 2015, The Royal Concept’s funky electropop has a timeless quality, reminiscent of everyone from French altpop band Phoenix, to short-lived American pop trio Fun. Their music has made appearances on a wide assortment of TV shows and video games such as FIFA 2014, Catfish and, who can forget, Glee. If you are stuck for a reason to polish off your dancing shoes this week, this is the perfect opportunity.
Fri Sept 21, 8pm; RMB150 presale, RMB200 at the door. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Sept 22: INXU @ T:union
Following the release of their debut EP, Space Cowboy, which acts as a vehicle for their spacey, psychedelic music, INXU go out on a national tour for the very first time. With a light show that is sure to mesmerize fans, INXU are a band on the rise. This year alone they have had gigs alongside other young Beijing standouts Macondo, Nocturnes and The Glamour Manifesto. Joined on the evening by phenomenal local rock band, Gryphin, this should be a great night of music.

Sat, Sept 22: Dough-Boy @ Mao Livehouse
Hong Kong rapper Dough-Boy broke onto the local rap scene when he won the Best Theme Song award at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2014. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, and he is a sharp reminder that rap in China is not merely a fad. His MV ‘You Think I’m Playing’ premiered on Noisey China, and the indefatigable rapper has been dropping singles throughout 2018.

Sun, Sept 23: Miaou @ Mao Livehouse
Incorporating electronic elements to create a stormy and moody ambient sound, Japanese post rockers Miaou take to the stage at Mao Livehouse this weekend to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their first Chinese tour.
