Bad news for Shanghai football fans who wanted to watch Brazilian World Cup star Paulinho (or that Korean guy who knocked Germany out), as tonight's Shanghai SIPG vs Guangzhou Evergrande game at Shanghai Stadium has been cancelled due to Typhoon Ampil.

In the most exciting Chinese Super League season in recent memory, only five points separate the top six teams after 12 games. SIPG lie in second, a point behind leaders Beijing Guo'an, and three points ahead of Evergrande in fourth, so it was all set to be a humdinger.

No news yet on when the game will be rescheduled. SIPG next play Beijing Guo'an in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Wednesday, July 25 at Shanghai Stadium with a 7.35pm kick off. They trail 2-1 from the first leg. Evergrande play Chongqing Lifan in the CSL next Sunday, July 29 at Tianhe Stadium with a 7.35pm kick off.
