Tue-Wed, Jul 10-11: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Concert
Presented by CineConcerts, one of the leading producers of live music experiences combined with visual media, this concert is part of the Harry Potter film series, which sees the full-length movies accompanied by a live orchestra. Fans of the hit JK Rowling fantasy novels will not want to miss this experience featuring original movie scores by American composer John Williams.

Thu, Jul 12: Dine ‘Off the Beaten Plate’
Organized by That’s PRD, this dinner is the first in our new series of food and drink tasting events, a series we’ve dubbed ‘Off the Beaten Plate.’ Through these events, we intend to introduce our readers to some of Guangzhou’s lesser known culinary offerings.
The gourmet dinner menu features seared Hokkaido scallops, oven-baked traditional Beef Wellington wrapped with Parma ham and mixed wild mushrooms, grilled tiger prawns and squid ink risotto with clams and calamari, among numerous other delectables. The dinner menu is composed of an appetizer, main course and dessert, with multiple options for each course. All menu items are made with tea and guests can also enjoy a free flow of teas.

Fri, Jul 13: Bang Gang
Icelandic pop band Bang Gang, founded in 1996 by Renaissance man and multi-instrumentalist Bardi Johannsson, are recognized for their blend of songwriting, electronica and glacial atmosphere. Johannsson, described as “an island within the music industry in Iceland” by a local magzine, left the band in 2008 but returned in 2014 with the album The Wolves Are Whispering, in which he reflects on both his technical and personal growth.

Fri, Jul 13: Canton Plage – French National Day Party
It’s back: the 2018 edition of Canton Plage – French National Day is set to be held on July 13 in Guangzhou. French and Chinese communities in both cities will gather to celebrate the holiday and experience the diversity of French culture.
As with previous years, a delightful selection of tipples will be on offer at the open bar, from French wines by Red Pony to spirits by Pernod Ricard. Beer drinkers will be happy to know that free flow San Miguel suds will also be available. Hungry attendees will be treated to a succulent barbecue as well as French and Asian edibles, while Confee will provide a spread of fine cheeses.

Fri, Jul 13: Benoit Stasiaczyk Group & Tsai Wenhui
French jazz composer Benoit Stasiaczyk will perform alongside his band and Taiwanese songstress Tsai Wenhui on Friday night at Zhile Art Space. Tsai has been touring Europe and Asia as a jazz singer and composer, performing in various venues and conducting workshops, while Stasiaczyk, who currently teaches at Xinghai Conservatory of Music, boasts vast experience working with European orchestras and jazz ensembles.

Sat, Jul 14: Jaeforreal
Hunan rapper Jaeforreal is staging his first professional performance this week in Guangzhou with old-school rapper Li Guangyao. Chaoshan-based rappers Artascope and Shigu will hit the stage as guest performers, both rapping in the dialect of their region.

Sat, Jul 14: Luca Testa
After growing up in a family passionate about classical music, Italian DJ Luca Testa decided to go a different route. His electronic tunes are diverse in style, combining house, bass, hardstyle and more. In addition, Testa has previously cooperated with notable labels such as Steve Aoki’s Dimmak Label and Derro’s Panda’s Funk.

Sun, Jul 15: Crazy Hospital
An award-winning Ukrainian circus comprised of professional clowns, comedians and acrobatic performers will put on a hilarious show at Guangdong Performing Arts Center Theater this week. The show, titled Crazy Hospital, is centered around eccentric patients and their helpless doctors and nurses. Audience members can expect an eclectic composite of mimery, acrobatics, magic, dance and martial arts.
