Thu, Jun 21: InDeedWeNeed @ SD Livehouse
It’s always a thrill to stumble across great, undiscovered bands from Southeast Asia, and thanks to the organizers at SD Livehouse, this fantastic Thai band – InDeedWeNeed – will make their way to SD’s underground environs for an evening of jazz, hip hop and rap. This trio of classically trained jazz musicians have made quite a name for themselves in Bangkok since forming in 2014, with their previous album BOBAH making waves at the end of last year.

Fri Jun 22: Alexandro Querevalu @ Xinghai Concert Hall
Alexandro Querevalu is bringing his Native American influenced world music on a five date tour of China. His final stop is in Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou, where spectators have the opportunity to hear the mournful and natural content of material inspired by the story of The Last of the Mohicans. Querevalu is warmly received in China, a country which is well known for its own thriving world fusion and folk music scene.

Sat, Jun 23: Hilltop Music Festival @ Mao Livehouse
Guangzhou’s reputation as a metal music city usually precedes it, and what better way to celebrate that sterling reputation than a festival in the height of summer. Mao Livehouse brings a group of six hard-rocking bands to town from far-flung locations like Shanghai, Changsha, Hong Kong and, of course, Guangzhou. Now in its eighth year, Hilltop Music Festival is a lovely evening of metal and hardcore for local fans.

Mon, Jun 25: TILT @ Zhile Art Space
Famed flautist Joce Mienniel is the latest in a long list of stellar jazz performers that Zhile Art Space has brought to Guangzhou. The venue is now, ostensibly, focused on hosting one great music event per month and Mienniel is not to be missed by fans of free-flowing, experimental and avant garde jazz. Expect ambient and electronic vibes from Mienniel and his band, as they bring their superb new album, TILT, to Guangzhou.
