Fri, May 18: J-star @ SD Livehouse
In what will be the pair's Guangdong debut, British reggae DJ J-star and his Hong Kong counterpart MouseFX, will stage a reggae music night at SD Livehouse this week, performing their latest tracks and keeping things irie. The duo’s hit single ‘Baby Fan Ying’ in 2017 became the tune of the year for Hong Kong’s reggae fans.

Sat, May 19: Mono Inc @ Mao Livehouse
The 520 Valentine’s weekend in Guangzhou means plenty of hard rock it seems. Get down to Mao Livehouse in Pazhou to catch German act Mono Inc. Known for their theatrics and strong gothic imagery, the band will take a short stop in Guangzhou on their China tour, before jetting off to Kunming. Having just released a hits and rarities compilation at the end of 2017, this show will be a memorable one for longtime fans of the band.

Sun, May 20: 520 Sweet Festival @ SD Livehouse
Bring your best guy or gal to SD Livehouse on '520' to enjoy a stacked rock and roll line-up at Shayuan’s favorite music venue. Local punks Pinboard and post-hardcore folk heroes Die!ChiwawaDie! will both be in attendance, while the main draw on the night are French metal opera act Digou and the multi-faceted, multi-tentacled Koreangroup Octopoulpe, who will also drop by for what should be another hard-hitting, in-your-face metal night at SD Livehouse.

Sun, May 20: Operation Single Rescue @ Guangzhou Music Factory
If you find yourself all on your lonesome on 520, grab your boots and make your way down to Panyu’s Music Factory for an evening of frolicking fun in the wonderful soundscapes of some of Guangzhou’s best local independent acts. Pop funk sensations Elevfun, all girl hard rock act JENNY and more will be on hand to save you from being alone on another of China’s seemingly endless run of love holidays.

Sun, May 20: Future Funk/Vaporwave Mixtape @ SD Livehouse
SD Livehouse open their doors late until this Sunday night, with an evening devoted to Future Funk and Vaporwave, as part of their new series of electronic evenings, which begins this month. Guangzhou’s underground electronic scene continues to grow, with spaces like Hangover and YinYang Guild attracting more and more attention, and it seems that SD Livehouse have taken notice and are stepping their game up. Local acts COWIVY and REBELC will spin funky tracks until 1am.
