That's PRD takes a look at the best live music performances happening this weekend in Guangzhou:

Thu, April 19: Blue Foundation @ Mao Livehouse

Globetrotting Danish trip-hop act Blue Foundation return to China, bringing more of their silky smooth and smoky beats to Pazhou’s own Mao Livehouse this weekend. You may not have heard of Blue Foundation, but you have probably heard their music as they have carved out a string of brilliantly appropriate soundtrack contributions for films and TV shows like Twilight, The O.C. and The Vampire Diaries

Thu Apr 19, 8.30pm; RMB120 presale, RMB150 at the door. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.

Fri, April 20: Nocturnes @ T: Union

Nocturnes arrive in Guangzhou on the tail end of their first national tour. Bringing the sparse, indietronica sound of their debut album Lines Written in Code to the acoustically fantastic T: Union, the talented duo should fill every crevice of the Yangji-based venue with beautiful noise. With support on the night coming from celebrated local noise-rock act Nouvelle and lesser-known indie band Love is a Reverb, this is one gig not to be missed.

Fri Apr 20; 8pm; RMB 60 presale; RMB80 at the door; RMB100 presale + album package. T:Union. See event listing. Tickets

Sat, April 21: Nerd Noise Series @ SD Livehouse

Beijing Label Cao Tai bring their annual indie mixtape, Nerd Noise, to SD Livehouse this weekend. Their most recent release, Nerd Noise 2, came out at the end of 2017 and featured a bunch of math rock bands from around the country, with an unintentionally prominent focus on southern China. Catch up with Moonband from Zhaoqing, Nein Or Gas Mus from Guangzhou and Eat.Sleep.Recycle from Hong Kong for a night of fantastic, rhythmically tight music.

Sat Apr 21, 9pm; RMB60 presale, RMB80 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.

Sat, April 21: Lydmor @ 191 Space

Following in a long line of North European electronic artists, Lydmor has made her name on the backs of grand and emotionally-wrought vocal and lyrical phrases. Having previously lived in Shanghai, Lydmor has performed in China on two separate occasions and the country holds a special place in her heart. Catch up with this fantastic vocalist in the intimate setting of 191 Space for what promises to be an exciting evening of ethereal electronica.

Sat Apr 21, 8pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door; 191 Space. See event listing
