A coach bus burst into flames yesterday afternoon on Changgang Dong Lu, in Guangzhou’s Haizhu District. The incident happened at around 3.25pm, and authorities were alerted to the fire after receiving a call from a food deliveryman who had noticed smoke coming from the bus.
The flaming vehicle, which had a Guangdong Hengyun Coach Company logo on its side, left visible burns on roadside foliage up to 80 meters away from its final resting place outside Exit A of Xiaogang metro station.
While the cause of the fire is still unclear, a police officer at the scene of the accident told That’s yesterday that the driver was the only person onboard at the time. The officer added that the driver had been taken in for questioning.
The "completely burnt out” bus was towed from the scene of the incident around 5pm.
