Jan 23: German Wine Tasting
This week, wine lovers are invited to join a tasting organized by the German Chamber of Commerce in Guangzhou. The event will offer professionally matched food and wine pairings as well as discounts on bottles. Which wines will be showcased at the event? Jan 24: Kotaro Oshio
Kotaro Oshio is Asia’s premier fingerstyle guitarist. Before his rise, he coined a unique array of techniques – including a 'nail attack' style – unparalleled in Japan. His compositions blend graceful melody with an intense rhythm, and the prolific guitarist has released 17 albums and seven DVDs. See Oshio live in Guangzhou this week at Central Station.

Jan 23: Ralph Thomas Trio
American musician Ralph Thomas was born to a cross-cultural family blessed with musical skills. The talented artist plays a multitude of instruments, including saxophone, flute and bagpipes, and will present Guangzhouers with a selection of avant-garde jazz at his performance this week.

Jan 26: BenCham New Year Party
In the wake of a fruitful 2017, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China (BenCham) is hosting a celebration this Friday at Grand Hyatt Guangzhou to mark the start of the new year. Jan 27: Colin Phils
Colin Phils is a Richmond, Virginia-based band offering complex instrumental music (guitar loops, synth lines and intricate drumming) alongside densely harmonic vocals. Their sound has been described as part math-rock, part indie-rock, with catchy hooks and harmonies throughout. Read our interview with them here.

Jan 27: Swan Lake by Russian State Ballet
Over the last 20 years, the Russian State Ballet Theater has remained one of the leading companies in its homeland plus enjoyed international acclaim. Its repertoire includes classic masterpieces as well as world-class modern dance. With elaborate costumes, a vivid set and breathtaking choreography, the outfit will grace audiences with a world-class rendition of Swan Lake.

Ongoing: Simultaneous Eidos – Guangzhou Image Triennial 2017
The successor of the Guangzhou International Photography Biennial Exhibition, first hosted in 2015, the Triennial gathers over 40 artists and/or photographers from China, Japan, France, the US and Brazil, among others. Exhibits include documentaries, photography, installations and more. Two highlights: photos of 19th century China taken by British adventurer John Thomson, plus images from Hong Kong photographer He Pan documenting Chinese cities in the 1950s and 60s.
