“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,” once said the late British statesman Sir Winston Churchill. It’s a poignant quote and one that’s particularly relevant this month, with the Christmas season fully upon us.
For those of you looking for a good cause to support this holiday, we’d like to draw your attention to a fantastic charity drive by GZs Hearts Fusion: the Winter Project for Tibet.
Organizers at the Winter Project for Tibet are currently collecting winter clothes and cash donations to help appropriately dress 188 children from a poor area in Tibet’s Shigatse city before the brutally cold winter sets in.
According to organizers, the 188 children suffer from extreme poverty and their school dormitory even lacks beds.
Three types of donations are currently being welcomed: 1) secondhand or new winter clothes and shoes, 2) educational supplies and books, 3) financial assistance, by sponsoring a child for RMB80. The charity is also seeking individuals and organizations interested in becoming long-term child sponsors.
Those interested in donating clothing are reminded that the garments need to be clean and in good condition, with no stains or holes. Contributions will be accepted until December 15.
Donations to the Winter Project for Tibet can be left at the following locations: CA1, Global Friendship Office, Panyu’s Fun English School Centres, Jamie’s Mandarin School and AISG’s Science City campus (Ms. Mora's office, room 112).
