And today in bizarre news: a man in Guangzhou was reportedly ‘shocked’ this morning when a TV screen in an unnamed Line 5 metro station froze on an image of a creepy woman with a black tear running down her right cheek.

The eerie incident happened at around 6am, while Mr. Huang was fiddling with his phone and waiting for the next train, according to a report carried by Tencent News.

In a scene that could have been lifted from hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Huang suddenly heard an eerie voice coming from a nearby TV monitor. When he looked up, he was stunned by the distorted image of a pale, sad-looking, downright terrifying woman.

"The whole picture was frozen for a few minutes. At that time, the vocals on the TV were also very distorted,” said Huang. “The sound was quite uncomfortable. It was like a ghost story."

Making the situation all the creepier: Huang was alone on the subway platform when the face appeared on the television.

Talk about a spooky start to the day…
