October 24: Yannick Rieu Quartet
Canadian saxophonist Yannick Rieu entered the realm of jazz in the early 1980s and was named one of the 20 most promising saxophonists by Down Beat magazine. “He plays with the instrument’s breathy and rough textures, going from murmur to outburst, from reserved to talkative,” Jazz Magazine eulogized. Visiting Guangzhou this week, Rieu’s quartet is playing at Zhile Art Space where a jazzy night awaits. To reserve your tickets, call 139 2621 1853.

October 26: Italian Wine Tasting

October 27: Yves Rousseau Wanderer Septet
The time-tested French jazz band Wanderer Septet was founded by bass player Yves Rousseau, and has toured more than a thousand times around the world. Their neo-classical sound combines jazz and classical music. At their Guangzhou performance, Wanderer Septet will perform their adaptation of Schubert’s classic pieces.

October 28: Wine and Cheese by UFE South China
Hosted by UFE South China, a recognized French association, this gathering is designed for those new to China and will offer handy information about living here. Topics will range from ‘China life hacks’ and events to business in the PRC and how to apply for a visa. To keep things interesting, delicious wines and cheeses will be served to attendees.

October 28: Latin Festival
The annual Latin Festival, organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, has arrived! With a unique and lively atmosphere created by both the Latin community and local Guangzhouers, the event will feature exciting dances, live music and plenty of delicious snacks and beverages. October 28: Cecile Corbel
Her red hair and Gaelic carnation attests her belonging to the Celtic world. French singer-songwriter Cécile Corbel picked up the harp at 15 years old, and later developed a fondness for all kinds of mythologies, both of which has impacted her music. What’s more, Corbel can sing in English, Italian, Spanish, Breton and Gaelic, among others. Performing in three Chinese cities, Corbel will bring her angelic songs to the PRD this week.

October 28-29: Titanic Dance
Remember the scene from Titanic where Jack and Rose were twirling and tap dancing on a table? Well, it will be staged in Guangzhou this month. Titled Titanic Dance, this performance will narrate the story behind the ‘unsinkable,’ through traditional Irish dance. Passion, not sorrow, is at the heart of the show, which is presented by some of the top tap dancers in the world, including those from the renowned show Riverdance.

October 28-29: Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal Guitar Clinic
The newly-opened Guangzhou Music Factory, associated with Vigier Guitars, is delighted to lead Guangzhou’s professional or amateur guitarists through a guitar clinic, master class, interview, jam session and performance by former Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. October 29: Vienna Boys’ Choir
With a history spanning five centuries, the celebrated Vienna Boys’ Choir are, without a doubt, one of the world’s best and enjoy a reputation comparable to that of the Vienna Philharmonic. World-class composers and conductors such as Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and Bruckner were once members of the choir, which is divided into four touring groups named after those four musical masters. Join this family-friendly, picnic-style gathering at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou where the choir is going to perform.
